Messing with religion is always a good idea when you want to get noticed. But does it sell the product is another question. Could it be so, that it just chase away a big percentage of potential customers which are religious? What do you think? Well, I have to admit the ad is really funny :)

Frontline – Get Them Off Your Dog

Strange Buildings and Unusual Architecture

Challenge

A local petstore chain with limited budgets needed to push their range of de-ticking products. They needed a solution that was affordable yet impactful.

Solution

The insight – you may be close to your pet but totally blind to flea infestations. Huge 225 sq.meter stickers, across 3 malls, crawling with people were used citywide to highlight their leading product range.

Result

The amusing, memorable and surprising use of simple ambient media made JakPetz and its Frontline products get more attention than any expensive ATL campaign. The outcome? Less fleas more sales. Happy dogs, even happier client!

Guinness – Enjoyed since 1759 (FAIL!)

No matter how good and creative the idea behind this ad was, if it looks like a guy sitting on the toilet it’s a huge FAIL. And that was exactly what I saw when I first looked at it. Only after closer investigation I found out, that the idea was pretty cool, but it’s still a guy on the toilet.

KitKat Bench – Have a Break Have a KitKat

This ambient ad is of course far away from being new (released in 2008), but it’s so cool, that we just had to include it here on HookedOnAds. And the coolest thing about this bench is that it looks completely like the original KitKat chocolate. Moreover, it is communicating a proper message (bench = a place to relax and of course have KitKat). However even the best ads have drawbacks, and this time it’s birds. That wouldn’t look as tasty as it looks now with birds droppings.

But wait! What do we have here? The picture below was uploaded to Flickr in 2004. Darn! It’s even older than we thought!

Eucanuba – Fetch

The Challenge

Convince people, that Eucanuba is good for brain development and function.

The Thinking

Eucanuba contains an optimal balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fats. One of the main benefits of these is that they help with brain development and function. So really, Eucanuba dogs are not only healthier and shinier. They are also smarter. They didn’t just say that, they wanted to show that.

The Solution

They found five well-trained dogs. Some pretty and some less pretty. And then they spent some time training them to carry Eucanuba bags around in their mouths. Once they have perfected this task, they took them to busy shopping centres and trained them to walk between two established points.

The reactions were exactly what Eucanuba hoped for.
